Day 70: Kingston Yacht Club

Chris at Kingston's airport
(smaller than Newport News -
Williamsburg International)
Another sleep-in this morning, then Chris finished packing his suitcase.  Although his flight was at 4:00pm, he needed to arrive at least two hours early at the Kingston Airport.  We had some beverages at the club house while waiting for his taxi. He left at 1:30pm for the airport.  Again we were sad — this time it’s Chris leaving.  We went back to the boat so Brian could do some prep-work before our run to Oswego, NY, tomorrow. Then relaxed on the Lanai for out last day in Canada. The weather in the morning is light southwest winds, waves a foot or less, on the eastern part of Lake Ontario. We are planning for a 6-hour voyage to Oswego, NY at eight knots. We got a text from Chris saying his customs check will be in Toronto. Another case of hurry up and wait. In the evening, Brian was completing the prep work by filling the fresh water tank in the cockpit when a spider or spiderweb got on Brian’s face.  In an impulse reaction he slapped his face knocking his glasses over the transom and swim platform into the water never to be seen again.  Brian had set his spare glasses aside for packing, but missed them in his final check.  Fortunately, Linda’s glasses will work for Brian as reading glasses until we can find cheep chain-store reading glasses for him in Oswego.
